Stacking the Shelves (2)

Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where we share the books we've acquired or borrowed to our shelves each week!

First, I've been posting less than usual because I'm out of town on a family vacation and a bit behind on my reviews, but will get on that as soon as possible! Second, I'm not a weekly Stacking the Shelves participant because I tend to get books in bulk and not on a weekly basis, but I got an awesome haul this week!

Venom by Fiona Paul
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
Black City by Elizabeth Richards
The Innocents by Lili Peloquin
Origin by Jessica Khoury

So far I've read Origin, Venom and Black City, and I loved them all in different ways! Origin in particular completely surprised me (in a good way), and was probably the most serious of the three. But they each definitely bring something different to the table. I'm excited to see how Falling Kingdoms and The Innocents stack up!

Brought my little cousin to the library today and picked these three up! 

Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Fury by Shirley Marr

I am a huge Melina Marchetta fan (who isn't??) and started Finnikin of the Rock a while back and then got caught up with work and never finished, so I'm excited to finally read it! I've heard amazing things about both Wonder and Fury as well!

    Yay for Finnikin! I loved that book and hope you will too. Isn't Melina Marchetta just amazing? :) And wow, congrats on winning those Breathless Reads books. I love the sound of Falling Kingdoms especially. I can't wait to see what you think of that. :) Great haul!

      Gah she is! And Marchetta + fantasy is bound to be epic. About two books away from starting it! Will go see if you've reviewed it. And I'm actually reading Falling Kingdoms right now! Will probably do a Goodreads review when I finish, so keep a look out hehe. Thanks Sam!

      Ahh me too!! It's pretty stunning. The book itself is so far my least favorite of the three I've read though, so that was a bit disappointing, but it was definitely a quick and entertaining read!

    Falling Kingdoms is EVERYWHERE recently! I hope you like it, it seems like people expect it to be awesome. By the end of Finnikin I was hooked, but I totally agree that that book takes a while to get into. I tried for Froi of the Exiles, but it happened again! I might take it back out of the library someday when my reading list is smaller- they are long books. Enjoy!

      Grad Student! Falling Kingdoms wasn't bad; pretty entertaining but definitely some room for improvement writing-wise!

      Gah, I keep hearing that about Finnikin and I just need to sit down and finish it! I really hope I love it! And you're right; they're pretty daunting! Thanks for stopping by. :)
